Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune invites applications from Indian nationals for the following Domain Analyst positions under funded project purely on temporary and contractual basis.
Domain Analyst (Molecular Biology / Cell Biology / Physiology)
Number of post: 02 (Two)
Minimum educational Qualifications & Experience:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology / Cell Biology / Physiology OR M.Sc. in Molecular Biology / Cell Biology / Physiology / Life Sciences with minimum 2 years’ of relevant experience in Molecular Biology / Cell Biology / Physiology
Preference: Candidates with a Ph.D. or M.Sc. with more than 2 years of relevant experience, having good communication skills and experience in systems biology and / or data network building will be preferred
Job requirement: You will be required to interact and work with the Senior Domain Expert and Domain Expert on selection of papers and what kind of readout the annotation tools will be making. You will work to contribute papers to the selection process and also test the quality of annotation to ensure the grading systems put in place are working correctly. You will also take questions from end users and in consultation with the domain expert address the same. Also, you will work with the annotation, network building and science communication teams to support the project.
Domain Analyst (Clinical Biology / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Public Health Research)
Number of post: 02 (Two)
Minimum educational Qualifications & Experience:
Ph.D. in Clinical Biology / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Life Sciences OR M.Sc. / M.Pharm with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Clinical Biology / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Public Health Research
Preference: Candidates with a Ph.D. or M.Sc. with more than 2 years of relevant experience, having good communication skills and experience in systems biology and / or data network building will be preferred

Domain Analyst (Science Communication Expert / Scientific Content Design / Public Engagement)
Number of post: 01 (One)
Minimum educational Qualifications & Experience:
Ph.D. in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences OR M.Sc. / Bachelors in Mass Communication / Bachelors in Journalism with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Science Communication / Science Content Design / Science Outreach / Public Engagement.
Preference: Experience in Science Outreach Projects, Science Communication, Scientific Content Design, Public Engagement and good communication skills will be preferred.
Job requirement: You will be required to interact with Senior Domain Expert and Domain expert to help them with putting together content for developing science communication material and public engagement tools for the Manav project. You will be required to help work with the both experts in conducting communication workshops and be part of all public engagement exercises. You should be well versed in communication tools like PowerPoint and video making tools. You will also take questions from end users and in consultation with the domain expert address the same. Interacting with colleges and students, teachers and reviewers.
Domain Analyst (Data Integration and Machine Learning)
Number of post: 02 (Two)
Minimum educational Qualifications & Experience:
B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. / equivalent qualification with minimum 2 of years of relevant experience
Preference: Candidates having more than 2 years of experience in writing scripts / programs for implementing machine learning methods, good understanding of bioinformatics / computational biology / systems biology / biological data mining, scripting skills (Python and/or R) to implement Machine Learning methods will be preferred.
Job requirement: You will work closely with domain experts under the supervision of senior domain experts to write scripts / programs for implementing machine learning methods such as literature mining, ranking of performance of teams, categorizing scientific articles into groups etc. Additionally, you will be involved in testing Manav platform from Machine learning perspective.
Name of the Project: “Manav – Human Atlas Initiative"
Funding Agency: Department of Biotechnology (DBT)
Tenure of the appointment: Initially for a period of one year extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the project.
Consolidated emoluments: Rs. 50,000 /- per month
Age Limit: Not more than 32 years as on closing date of advertisement.

1. The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on termination of the project.
2. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment / absorption in Funding Agency or in IISER Pune.
3. The appointment of the applicant will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency particularly applicable to the said project.
4. The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.
5. Relaxation in requirement of qualification and/or experience may be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious applicants with the prior approval of the competent authority.
6. Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification and experience may be considered with the prior approval of the competent authority for candidates having qualification and experience higher than the advertised.
7. The prescribed educational qualifications & experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be considered in the selection process. Where number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the Project Investigator may restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying.
8. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview.
9. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer.
